tragedy struck the bubbling Omuokiri Village, in Aluu Community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, at about 10 pm on Saturday, 1st of August, when a middle-aged man who is popularly called Tailor committed suicide in the village, after being dumped by his lover.

Tailor, popular among residents in Omuokiri, is a Kogi indigene. He reportedly hanged himself after his lover visited him in his house that night to call their relationship quit. According to reports, although his neighbors intervened and begged the lady to consider him, she remained adamant and moved her belongings out of the man’s house.
According to the Nation Newspaper, a source disclosed how the event took place;
“The incident happened last night. The young man was with his girlfriend in the room and they had a problem.
“The lady said she was no longer interested in the relationship. She packed her things and left the house. It was later that one of our neighbors found out that Tailor had hanged himself.
“As I speak to you now, there is trouble in the compound because the people of Aluu said it is a taboo in their area.
“They have locked the gate and asked everybody to pack out till traditional cleaning is done in the compound.”
