A young man named Yahaya Aminu Sharif was sentenced to death for blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad.
The latest news reaching us today is that a Kano Upper Shari’a Court, that is sitting at Hausawa Filin Hockey in Kano has sentenced a 22-year old man to death by hanging. His offense? blaspheming against Prophet Muhammad.
According to a Kano based online newspaper, Kano Focus, Mr. Yahaya Aminu who was accused of blasphemy, was sentenced to the. It was reported that the judge presiding over the case, Khadi Aliyu Muhammad Kani, gave the verdict on Monday after finding Yahaya Aminu Sharif guilty as charged.

Mr. Sharif, who was residing in Sharifai in Kano metropolis, was accused of committing blasphemy against the prophet in a song he circulated via WhatsApp in March 2020, which went viral and he was traced by followers.
Following the incident, protestors went to his street, locate and burnt down the singer’s family home, and led a procession to the Kano Hisbah Command’s headquarters to report him.
According to the report, the court also sentenced a young man named Umar Farouq of Sharada area of Kano metropolis to 10 years imprisonment for making derogatory statements concerning the Almighty Allah in a public argument.
