All our readers should take note that this list is a comprehensive list of the 15 Most costliest and expensive universities in Nigeria and how much their school fees and tuition cost.

You should know, or I suspect, you are already aware that private universities top the list:

1: BABCOCK UNIVERSITY

Babcock Students

Taking #1 position on the list of Nigeria Costliest University is Babcock University. Babcock University is a private co-educational university, which is owned and operated by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Nigeria. The university was established as the Adventist College of West Africa (ACWA) in the year, 1957.

The Babcock University school fee ranges from N620,000 to N3 million, Yes, you read it right, 3 Million Naira!. In Babcock University, your meal and hostel defines your school fee. The academic institution offers two and three daily meal services.

While for accommodation, there are three to seven students in a large airy room. Also in accommodation, it totally depends on your choice.

  • Either you choose a regular room, which contains 7 occupants in a room),
  • While premium houses ONLY 4 students in a room.
  • While classic contains only 3 or 2 students  in a room.

Medicine: Three (3) million Naira.

Law: 2 million Naira.

Accounting: One Million, five hundred thousand (1.5) Naira.

Nursing: 1 million Naira.

Other faculties: N860,000 – N620,000 Naira.

AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA (AUN)

Taking the 2nd position as Nigeria most costliest and expensive school is the America University of Nigeria (AUN). The American University of Nigeria is very similar to the National Open University of Nigeria.

The American University of Nigeria is the first Nigerian university with American structure and curriculum. This academic institution is situated in the north eastern Nigeria, Yola, capital of Adamawa State.

Students pay as much as N1,378,500 to receive quality education. However, unlike Other Universities in Nigeria, Scholars are required to pay in dollars.

Here is a complete breakdown of the American University of Nigeria (AUN) School Fees.

  • For tuition: $6,600 (N990,000),
  • Meals: $1,900 (285,000),
  • Four in a room:$500 (N75,000),
  • Private room: $1,900 – N285,000).

So in total, this fee amounts to N1,378,500 per annum as school fees. Accommodation and feeding are taken care by the school.

AFE BABALOLA UNIVERSITY

The 3rd Most expensive tertiary institution in Nigeria is the Afe Babalola University.

The Afe Babalola University is a private owned institution which is situated in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State. This academic institution was established in 2009 by Nigeria’s foremost lawyer and legal icon, Chief Afe Babalola (SAN).

The fee paid by students covers the following as listed below;

  • Tuition,
  • Development levy,
  • ICT,
  • ID card,
  • Medical,
  • Sports, PTCF levy,
  • Course registration,
  • Caution fee,
  • Accommodation.

The institution accommodates either four students per room or two students per room.

  • For Engineering: N1,075,000 (2 beds).

All aspiring candidates should take note that this institution school fee ranges from N675,000 to N1,075,000 annually. There is no provision for feeding.

IGBINEDION UNIVERSITY

Taking the 4th position as Nigeria most expensive University is the Igbinedion University. This academic institution came into existence following the presentation of certificate of approval on May 16, 1999.

Just for those who are not aware, the Igbinedion University is the VERY first licensed private university in Nigeria. This academic institution school tuition ranges from the whooping sum of Five hundred and Forty thousand Naira (N540,000) to N820,000, excluding feeding.

However, for courses like Medicine, Pharmacy, Law and Engineering,they pay a tuition fee of N610,000 per annum.

While for accommodation, students are required and expected to pay the sum of One hundred Thousand Naira ONLY (100,000) and other facilities: N110,000.

BOWEN UNIVERSITY

The 5th Most expensive University in Nigeria is the Bowen University. This institution is owned and operated by the Nigerian Baptist Convention, which is located at the Iwo in Osun State and was officially opened November 4, 2002.

The Bowen University school fee starts from N500,000 to N750,000 per annum. The Bowen university tuition fee covers ONLY accommodation and tuition, while other expensive are covered by the students. Students are made to buy their food from the school cafeteria.

CRAWFORD UNIVERSITY

The 6th most expensive school in Nigeria is Crawford University. The Crawford University is a private University which is situated in Igbesa, Nigeria. The crawford institution was established in 2005.

The Crawford University management disclosed that the institution will be providing accommodation for students, however, they will not be providing feeding to students. Students are required to only pay for tuition, accommodation and some additional charges.

The Crawford University School Fee ranges from N400,000 to N600,000.

REDEEMER’S UNIVERSITY

Taking the 7th position is Redeemer’s University which is based in Redemption City, Ogun State Nigeria. Redeemer’s University was opened in the year 2005.

The tuition fee at Redeemers differs and is based on your chosen course.

The Natural Science pays N605,000,
Management Sciences; N575,000,
Humanities pays N545,000.

Please take note that all these fees are paid, excluding feeding. These fees includes ONLY tuition and accommodation.

The Redeemer’s University fees range from N500,000 to N650,000 per annum.

The Lagos State University made the list of Most expensive University in Nigeria, Under the Federal level. In Federal Universities, the Lagos State University made the list of most expensive federal schools.

The Lagos State University school fee is between N240,000 and N345,000

While the Osun State University school fee ranges between ₦130,500 and 160,500.
